Swallows
The Swallows is a delightful old world pub in Port Melbourne. John Rubira, a former fish wholesaler and renowned restaurateur has taken over the venue and offers diners a wide variety of excellent fish, or his famous seafood platters. Fish is served simply - pan fired, grilled, Cajun style or in a crisp light beer batter and comes with a range of accompaniments. An extensive wine list complements the menu.
Retro pub serving up fine seafood and some very gluggable house wine.

I must say I was a little disappointed in Rubiras @ Swallows, the calamari was really salty, the fish was smothered in breadcrumbs and you could not taste the fish, when people ordered steaks medium to rare, they were told by a certain waitress that the steaks were only done one way and that was medium to well done, which I thought was quite unusual, some of the staff weren't that friendly. Their were 24 of us and I reckon 20 of the mains were only half eaten. Not the same old Rubiras's that I new.
