Swansea RSL Club

Back again for a catch up with family over breakfast. On the whole I think the club seems to be a bit *hit and miss* - yesterday's visit I found the staff to be very friendly, the menue was good with raisin toast through to a *big breakfast* - although there was no bacon and egg roll :-( , and while some of the breakfasts were good/looked good, the pancakes were definitely *lacking* - I was served 3 quite large pancakes that were nice, however rather than getting the maple syrup *on the side* the syrup was poured into the bowl/plate and the pancakes stacked on top - making the bottom one very soggy. There was no cream, ice cream or fruit, not even a sprinkle of icing sugar..... others at the table had a Big breakfast and bacon and eggs and they looked great! as I say - hit and miss, my breakfast was a miss, but others got a good breakfast for the money. Wait time was really good though and as it was quiet finding a table wasn't an issue.
We have driven past the Swansea RSL numerous times in the past, and thought it was time to stop by. I loved the idea that it was located so close to the water and it looked like a really lovely place to eat. The club itself was really nice, staff were friendly and helpful, however the bistro was a BIG disappointment. We felt like we were jammed in with the next table so close it was awkward getting in and out of your seat, the tables were in long lines - seating 8 so the person sitting near the window had to ask the other people at the table to stand up so he/she could get out. The club is air conditioned, but they had the hoover windows open in the eating/dining area and it was very hot and stuff, with the sun beaming in we had to eat wearing our sunglasses to cut down the glare. The food was nice, but some portions were VERY small. I had the creamy garlic prawns and rice, but it looked more like an entree, about 10-12 prawns in sauce (with tails on) and 2 ...read more
Was offered very poor customer service by the function staff here. They refused to refund my booking fee after trying to reschedule an event. This was just one week after paying it with several months until the date of the event. Very frustrating and bad business move.
Had my wedding there in August 2007. Would recommend it to anyone. Views from the function room were fantastic and the food was lovely. Price was very reasonable for a wedding, especially with the location overlooking Swansea Heads. Function co-ordinator was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Building was being renovated at the front at the time which was the only shame about the day.
