Podiatry is spilt in to two categories, general foot care and sports podiatry. General foot care consists of treating conditions such as corns; callous, ingrown nails, plantar warts, general nail cutting, neurovascular assessments and diabetic foot care etc.
Sports podiatry encompasses assessing how the foot and leg functions when walking and running and how this relates to the rest of the body. It includes treating conditions such as heel pain, shin splints, bunions, big toe joint pain, mid-foot pain, lower limb injuries and knee pain etc.
