Now called Newtown North Indian diner
The place hasn't changed, and my the sign. Whether it's new owners I don't know
One plus is that there is plenty of choices
Prices are reasonable
Food wise
Had the vegetarian thali and nothing stood out
A minus is there a/c,I'm not sure if it's on and the fans are not enough in summer
At least it's a quick food option
Even though the interior looks like a cafeteria style the way the food is served, I can guarantee I am never let down by the taste and flavours of the dishes. I also go for butter chicken and Dahl in which there are also so many vegetarian options. It's a good price and good portion. You'll definitely leave full after tasting all those authentic flavours.
Waldo has said, "It's the places that don't fuss over the decor" often give you a culinary surprise. Tamanas is a great Indian eatery. First impressions had me balking upon entry though it was the aroma that dragged me in.
Korma veges, spinach and potato, butter chicken and the ol' rogan josh with a couple of naan bread and what an end to a miserable rainy day. Great Food!!!!
Guys were very cheery and even allowed the missus to trial the potato and spinach before ordering.
Fabulous atmosphere when it got busy and the food was HOT from the server, which can be worrying sometimes in this type of take-away/eat in eatery.
Will be in again for sure, rain or shine.

Tamana's North Indian Diner, Newtown
The restaurant is not very snazzy, upstairs is nicer, although the artwork & music make it feel more authentic.
I have tried many other indian places but none come close to Tamana's in Newtown.
The staff are always polite, it is very family friendly, but do remember that this is the city & misbehaving children are not tolerated by other patrons.
The prices are great, serving size good & the flavours are excellent!
