Tandoori Palace
86 Oxford St
Darlinghurst, NSW, 2010
Tandoori Palace is a hidden jewel, the food is amazing - try the butter chicken - and so is the entertainment. I booked the private function room for my birthday and invited 35 friends and we had exclusive use of the private function room (there was NO room hire fee at all). The function room is amazing, it has a karaoke stage with cool lighting and down the other end of the room was a private bar, there are toilets there so we didn't have to leave the room at all!
For $45 per person we had the function room, a two course dinner (they even had western food options for the people who didn't like indian food which was great and they prepared something special for my vegan friend), karaoke all night, a drag queen karaoke host who was fabulous! I realley enjoyed Tandoori Palace, the star here is the food. Good quality, the buttter chcken very good and the lamb korma very tasty. Only issue was the meal was very sweet which is not what I expected from Indian. The service was efficient but not overly friendly. If you're trying to find a decent restaurant on Oxford Street then this place is worth a try.
We went there on the weekend for a friends hens night. It was loads of fun and the food was amazing. I was sceptical to start with as I am not really into that sort of group entertainment thing but it was very funny. You can see their belly dancers, Elvis impersonator and then watch the trannie lead the Karaoke where all the hens get up and have a laugh and embarrass themselves! It was great fun and the food was plentiful and very good. And their butter chicken is to die for.
