Update to my last visit - I always go here for their pad see ew with chicken or their laksa. Food comes out hot and quick for those student hunger pangs post lectures. They have a loyalty stamp card in place now which is great to be rewarded a meal for coming so often!
I've been going here for years since I've discovered it's so close to university. The interior is nothing too special but the service is fast and the food is great for the price. Capitalise on the lunch specials courtesy of Newtown's competing Thai food joints. I usually go for the pad see ew or curries. I've found that the previous times I've been, the pad Thai hasn't been as good as it used to be, slightly on the dry side.
There are many Thai restaurants in Newton but I chose Thai La Ong one night simply because it looked so busy even though the place did not look as good as the others. That was my first time visiting Thai La Ong and it gave me a ver bad experience.
We ordered two dishes and it took them 30 minutes to deliver the foods. I don't know either they were very busy or they did not have enough staff. Also, the staffs didn't seem to put good attention to the orders as they forgot what we ordered and gave meals to incorrect tables.
After our food has arrived, it made me more disappointed because the pad thai was no longer warm. The only thing I can say is good about this restaurant is the price: very cheap.
