The Avalon on the Beach
Avalon SLSC
Avalon Beach, NSW, 2107
Loved it here, the ambience is modern and has a great beach feel. The real exciting part is the view. Complete uninterrupted oven views of Avalon beach, a panorama of deep blue, and ripples of white as the waves crash along the shore. Staff were so nice and helpful, there is also a lift if you have a pram or need accessibility, just let the Kiosk staff know and someone will meet you on the other side of the surf club. The coffee is good too, and we found ourselves consuming copious amounts! The food is beautifully presented and has a modern Australian palette, with beer battered fish and chips, scotch fillet, seared salmon and seafood marinara. We order sides of oysters, thick cut chips (which were some of the best I've had!) and salad. Will definitely be back!
We ventured into the restaurant and had a lovely dining experience which was welcomed! The restaurant was half filled despite a bit of a booking process and arriving five minutes later. Food was lovely, although small servings on the prawns and pasta yet all very tasty. I was recommended a fantastic wine based on my tastes which showed excellent skill on the waitresses behalf. Only things we really would have appreciated was being told there was a lift when we requested seating space with a pram and not being roused on by the events staff for walking through a wedding setup to get to the lift to depart. Otherwise a very pleasant experience and we will go back, it's perfect for casual dining and event meals.
We ate at the kiosk downstairs and sadly were very disappointed in the food. The salt and pepper squid with chips was fine but nothing to go back for, whilst the Beetroot salad was just plain, tasteless and bland. I didn't even bother eating it all. The fresh juice was lovely and staff friendly but I'm not sure I'd be interested in trying the restaurant if this is the caliber of food.
