A quintessential part of living in Albert Park is being a regular at this terrific bookstore. The most helpful and knowledgeable staff always know what book to suggest for all ages/interests/or none at all! Love spending time there. Worth travelling for but please don't. We like it just the way it is...
I ordered a book online from this store on the 21st of November only to be told it wasn’t in stock (so what was it doing on the website?) I was condescendingly offered the option of the bookstore keeping my money until such time as the book came back in stock (it’s out of print!) or a refund. I chose a refund on the 22nd. After several emails and a telephone call a refund has finally been processed. In the age of online book selling and the soon to be Amazon onslaught the only thing independent book stores have going for them is personalised service. This store fails on that front spectacularly. Oh and a check on their website yesterday revealed the book was still listed on the website!
I’ll shop online with the likes of Book Depositary and Amazon from now on.
Amazing place. They have a great discount for regular clients and I happen to find the staff picks to be very interesting. I always end up buying something from here no matter how much I tell myself to stop spending so much money on books. An additional bonus is that the staff seem to know the bookstore like the palm of their hand and are always ready to help you find a certain book.
