The Aviary
I'm not sure why I didn't discover this place earlier, especially since I had wondered into the bottleshop next door a number of times to buy beer. In fact I had discovered The Vic long before I even realised that this place existed, and when I did find out (thanks to the Internet) I decided that I had to jump off the train at North Richmond (after it had stopped, of course) to have a drink. As it turns out, I seem to keep on coming back here, especially since The Vic can get awfully crowded, and I seem to always find myself a seat out the back (where there is a pretty cool beer garden I really like beer gardens). This pub also has a bit of a 'bird' theme to it, which is not surprising since it does carry the name 'The Aviary'. I particularly liked the posters that are on the doors to the toilets.
We had a great night 6 of us saturday, we were at a freinds birthday upstairs in the coctail bar and we dceided to eat. Eat we did and the food was great share plates looked good but i went for the steak. The eye fillet melted in my mouth. Deserts were also good before we got into the coctails. All in all the bill was very reasonable. From there we listened to some cool tunes and got a bit tiddly!
The bar itself is fairly nice inside and the back garden area is very cool on a nice day. My only problem is the service. The bar staff really have some attitude, not friendly at all. One practically bit my head off after they charged me the wrong amount and I questioned them. Instead of apologising, they were really rude. I am from NYC. I can take aggressive, indifferent, too cool, etc. but rude for no reason just doesn't fly. I've been there two times, and both times received attitude (and no, I was perfectly polite to them!). Not going back.
I agree with you.... disgusting attitude from both the bar staff and management staff... They are just rude.... That's all....
