The Bay Fish Shop

Once a favourite institution from my childhood. Now a poorly run dive owned and managed by people with no care or concern in the World. Undersized, overpriced putrid fish cooked in rancid oil. A real tragedy as their are few options in the Glenelg precinct. Such a disappointment. Needs to be shut down by the health inspectors, or avoided at best.

I stumbled over this place years ago, and whenever I visit Adelaide, I always detour to Glenelg for flake & chips at "The Bay".

To be good, flake must be fresh, so you want a place with high turnover, and The Bay certainly has that.

I usually walk down to the jetty area, and find somewhere there to sit down and eat.

I've also bought oysters at The Bay, and have never been disappointed.

I've never tried anything else at The Bay - I can't get past the flake.

Prices at The Bay are similar to other fish & chip shops, but the quality is so much better.

this fish shop is way over priced i ask'd other things but for a minimun of chips and it was like the smallest hand full of chips the flake was very fishy and it was small to will not be returning

They make great fish and chips, and their yiros are extremely tasty. Walk down to the beach and eat on the lawn. Highly recommended!

This place is a real icon at Glenelg and really does make the traditional fish and chips. Well located near the end of Jetty road so you can enjoy your fisha and chips on the foreshore...
