The Bells Hotel
A relaxed and easy going local's pub in Wolloomooloo, Bell's Hotel offers a simple but affordable menu of drinks and bistro snacks. The bar is full of character with vintage memorabilia throughout, giving it a cosy, homely feel. There are live sports broadcasts and a pool table to keep you occupied, or choose some tunes from the jukebox.
Okay, but place may not be to everybody's taste, but if you want to visit a traditional Australian pub then you definitely can't go past this one (though this isn't the only one in the area). I've been here a couple of times and I have to say that it is much better than some of the other pubs in the area, even if it is just that old-school pub charm. Okay the days of the smoke filled bar room are long gone (though I doubt the owner is all that upset) but you still have the charges that the bartender demands when he answers the phone (he just left costs $1.00). The view is also pretty decent, with seats out the front looking out over Woolloomooloo bay, and the prices aren't that bad either. Can't say much about the food, but it is a great place for a beer.
A quiet alternative to the always rowdy and crowded Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel across the road. Perfect for a lazy afternoon playing darts, shooting pool and playing classic pub hits on the jukebox. Actually the quality of tracks on the jukebox has deteriorated dramatically over the years... just stick to darts... and beers.
