The Boathouse

We enjoyed a wedding recently and loved the minimal set up with loads and loads and loads of beautiful flowers. The food was great and staff were lovely.

Good fish and chips but a little pricey. Fish and chips and a can of drink takeaway is nearly $25.

I love the Boathouse franchise so I knew this wouldn't disappoint. Located on Shelly Beach is an ideal spot, away from the bigger crowds in Manly, but it still reigns in a huge crowd and the wait for a table can be a while. The food is great and exactly what you expect for the ideal beachside meal (plus you can never go wrong with fish and chips)! The ambience also inspires an excuse for a boozy lunch or at least a jug of their refreshing juice.

It's always easy (and harsh maybe) to be critical when a new venue opens as there is always a phase of getting it together and it has only been opened for two months, perhaps long enough to be reasonably sorted.

You queue at the counter to order your food which is fine, but frustratingly annoying when that queue is 30 minutes long and even more so when there is only two of you so you are both left solitary for a long time. My husband was asked when he ordered why we were there, which was our anniversary, and very sweetly a waitress brought out a little cake a sparkler and a happy anniversary which was very sweet.
