The Breakwater

The Brightwater is a bright, open plan, modern pub, which is a nice place for a few drinks and a meal. The drinks are on the pricey side as well as the meals, however you are paying for the water views and the atmosphere. Always busy and hard to get a table on a weekend and a sunny day.

s**t food, s**t staff, s**ttest management and over priced drinks and food. learn how yo treat people because you never know what they do for a job... like a restaurant reviewer, food and safety or even lawyers.

I went out for a rare lunch with my partner to Reid's Lounge one Friday lunchtime, unfortunately the experience wasn't a pleasant one. We ordered Chermoula Beef Skewers, not nice, the quality of meat being used for these was disappointing, it was chewy like lamb and had lots of fat lumps on most of the meat pieces which we had to pick off (or spit out!), I wasn't even convinced it was beef and if it was then it was a very poor cut of meat. The rest of the tapas we ordered were very salty and not particularly pleasant. I was really disappointed as I have eaten in Ishka before and the food there was great and for a $70 lunch I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. I won't be visiting here again despite the beautiful location.

I went there on a Thursday afternoon, it was quite and we sat down with a food and drink menu, I was absolutely surprised it was counter service and I was immediately put off!! If there is one thing I hate it is table service, then It got worse they gave me a buzzer....I was starting to think maybe I was in a food court. Tried to go to the Breakwater on Saturday night as we were staying on a friends yacht in the marina. The doorman wouldn't let us in because he stated that no thongs were allowed! One of my friends had a very expensive pair of very nice leather sandals on (I know this because I bought them for him as my best man at my beach wedding). I said to him that they are sandals my friend is wearing, not thongs! Didn't matter what I said, he refused to see the difference and then proceeded to roll up his sleeves and show me his tatoos...For goodness sakes management, get some decent doorman and educate them about how to handle people properly (and to tell the difference between thongs and sandals)! Also, you are on the water at the beach...what do you think people are going to wear! Won't be going back!
