Lots of seats, good pub style food and great service. We came and had the seafood basket and the t-bone $18 special. You order at the side of the kitchen, then take a number and find your seat. Food came out quickly and the steak was delicious with that flamed grilled smokey taste. The fisherman a basket came with cold fresh prawns, battered and grilled fish, calamari and deliciously crispy beer battered style chips.
After experiencing great food and service throughout Port Douglas and Queensland, I was absolutely horrified at the level of service and the shocking standard of food(could you even call it food?) at this establishment. I waited to be served at the bar, the barmaid rudely ignored me whilst she served at least 3 people who came to the bar after me(I assume they were locals). When I mentioned this she glared at me and served another patron. The food was some of the worst I have ever eaten In any establishment...a sloppy
bowl of linguine bolognaise for $18, that tasted like it was made from a jar of Dolmio, off meat and some old socks. The linguine was over cooked and ...read more
The worst food I have ever eaten and will never return and will definitely be letting people know. Myself and my brother went there for lunch and ordered a linguine bolognese i could not believe they even sent out what they did for the price we payed $18 each, and I gather it would have cost them $3 to make, it was a big bowl of slop absolutely disgusted, also still feeling sick from it right now. Also very rude staff ignored us when we went to the bar to order food acted like we where invisible would never recommend this place to anyone.
This place is potential gold mine but after two woeful experiences there last week we'll never go back. Firstly we dropped in for lunch one day. The place wasn't that busy (probably about 30 people, and its a big place) - our lunch order took nearly an hour to be served (and it was only burgers...). Everyone was complaining, including us but no one really seemed to care, particularly the wait or bar ...read more
The Courthouse Hotel, or the "Courty" as its affectionately known with the locals is a Port Douglas institution. Located in the prime position at the corner of the two main street strips in Port Douglas, the Courty is Port Douglas' oldest pub. I thought the meals we had were quite good, but the other three diners in my party weren't that impressed, so the Courty loses points via a consensus system. The menu is large, with all day options as well as lunch specials. I ordered the Courthouse platter but was soon told that none of the seafood had been delivered yet so I had to change my order. FYI - they talk up their ribs, but if you love ribs, these aren't that great..probably best to choose something else. A strange thing here (and it may be a standard FNQ (Far North Queensland) thing) was a morning happy hour. Yep happy hour in the AM runs from 9:30 - 11 AM...so if you're up for some booze at that time, this is the place for you. The bar staff are really laid back & ...read more
