Boutique cottage accommodation in Burnie, Tasmania.The Duck House is a heritage bed and breakfast in Burnie, on Tasmania's northwest coast. Burnie is less than two hours from Launceston (148 kilometres) and a half hour drive from Devonport (49 kilometres).
The two-bedroom Duck House can accommodate up to five guests. The house is furnished in heritage-style, with antiques, memorabilia and iron beds in the bedrooms. There is a fully-equipped kitchen adjoined by a country-style breakfast room. There is also a lounge and formal dining room and the bathroom has a claw foot bath.
The cottage is named for its original owners, Salvation Army Captain Bill Duck and his wife Winifred.
Next door to The Duck House is also Amelia's Cottage and Mrs Philpotts Cottage. Amelias is a fully self-contained heritage house refurbished in the Queen Anne style, including fireplaces, ball and clawfoot bath and stained glass windows. It can accommodate up to 6 guests in 3 bedrooms. Mrs Philpotts is a lovely and spacious three bedroom cottage that has a wonderfully warm and welcoming ambience. It accommodates up to six persons.
Provisions for a full English breakfast, including eggs, bacon and croissants, are supplied. Guests are invited to pick their own herbs and citrus from the rear garden.
The late 19th century timber cottage is a minutes walk from the beach, local park, art gallery, botanical gardens and walking tracks.
