Went to The Duck after a trip to the theatre across the road.

I had the bangers and mash and it was tasty. Also had a bottle of wine which was equally good. There was a good wine selection and I'd visit again.

outside looks like any other hotel/pub in aus, but once inside they have a great set up bar space and book nook with a separate dinning area. Was warm and cosy the first time I visited with a boutique feel. I went 3 days ago with 2 friends had ad no trouble getting a table. Friendly staff where efficient and tables where presented with pride (the day before Australia day- I enjoyed the native floral arrangements on each table! its the little things). Food was also lovely, great matching of flavours. I was alittle disappointed as part of my food was cold in parts- wasn't heated for long enough. Particularly as I ordered the duck at ($38!). The saving grace was that it was not over cooked and very tender. My friends dishes where also very good.

I can't say that the Duck Inn is amazing, but it was open and nearby so we stopped in for a drink and some dinner. For an early Friday night, the crowd was pretty thin and the atmosphere, non-existent. I was pretty unimpressed with my ordered meal: scotch eggs. Served cold, with mustard that almost blew our heads off, they were really underwhelming. My friend's pork was fatty and not rendered well, leaving a thick layer of fat on the roof of your mouth. That being said, the waiter was cute and the playlist was enough to keep us there.

Standing alone amongst terraces and the darken streets of Chippendale the Duck Inn feels more like a friend's lounge room than a pub. Wooden rustic chairs and tables adorned with homely items such as UNO cards, books and ornaments fill the main area. There is also a beer garden and more seating out the back. The food is delicious and more restaurant than pub, steaks, fish pie, pork schnitzel... Everything looked sensational!
This place isn't too noisy either, so it is ideal for group gatherings, almost like another lounge room to entertain without the cleanup!
Will definitely be coming here again!

From the outside it looks like any other pub but the inside opens up to a beautiful dining area. I dont think i would have ever stumbled upon this hidden gem without ouffer.com. Everything we ordered was delicious and I would recommend the salt and pepper squid and mushroom ravioli. I only wish i tried the home-made cider which we saw in the pub section on our way out. I would definitely recommend this place
