The Elephant Kitchen

The elephant does not look like much from the street. But its actually a pumping and happening venue on the weekends with live bands and chillaxing in the outdoor beer garden. Always meet someone friendly here its a good spot!

This is one of those pubs that unless you actually know something about it you may simply end up walking straight past. The thing is that the front of the pub is basically the sports bar and the pokies room, so if it wasn't for the fact that I still wanted to check the place out I would have simply glanced at it and said 'nothing to see here'. However, if you walk through the sports bar you come to a large beer garden out the back that hosts live music and shows this place to actually be quite hip and happening. I actually expected much less from this place and was expecting that I would simply mark this place off my map and then head to the better places on the other side of Brunswick Street Mall, however I ended up spending much more time here listing to the band and simply absorbing the vibe of the place. I would recommend checking it out and simply don't write it off from what you can see from the street.

Great atmosphere but the food was terrible, resturant prices and below quality, the burgars were lazily made with a bit of old shredded lettuce and a poor quality bun , chips were burnt. Good for a beer and the music but eat elsewhere

I use to go here very regularly. It was my standard Friday night for some time, the live music, fun staff and overcrowded dance floor was something to remember. If you're after a quiet night having a few catch-up drinks with your mates then this is definitely not the place. It's always so happening here, you'll find it difficult to get a table, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. The security are very firm which makes this place feel safe. They also have an outdoor area that's great during the summer. I would recommend this place to any one who's after a big night.

Still great on a sat night. Live music inside and different music outside. Just wish they'd spend some money on the girls toilets. They are revolting.
