The Franklin Hotel
92 Franklin St
Adelaide, SA, 5000
Probably the main reason that I kept on walking past this place was because I thought that it was a backpacker's hostel (not that backpacker's don't have pubs in them). Anyway, after coming back to Adelaide I decided to stick my head in here and check it out. The only problem was that they were still in the middle of renovations. However, I tried it again even more recently and discovered that not only had they finished the beer garden out the back, but had also become a craft beer bar. Sure there are a number of pubs in Adelaide that serve craft beers, but this is one of the few dedicated to craft beer bars. Personally, it's not a bad place, but it really doesn't jump out at me as a place I would frequent more than other places. I still like what they have done with the renovations though.
Came here for a charity night for Deaf Can Do. The front of the area was hired out, as they had tables reserved. Everything on The menu looked tempting, the staff were friendly and the food was pretty good. Only issue for the night was they forgot my hotdog and another meal my friend ordered, not sure if other meals were missed but because it was a big group meals were coming out all over the place at different times, so we waited patiently until they stopped serving so we had to ask.
I would come back it is a pretty cool place.
Came here with friends one night and I had never been here before, or knew it existed. I quite liked the lay out, decor and the ambiance, did get a bit loud though with people yelling and all but thats like any other place depending on the people who walk in. The beats were good, but they couldve turned it down a tiny tiny bit because the group I was with found ourselves yelling over each other in the section we were in. I didnt wander around to the outside section because it was too cold for my liking, but their beer garden looked nice. We ordered some food, decently priced and nice to eat. The cute cocktails they served in little jam jars were a treat as well! I wouldnt mind coming back to this place to hang out and catch up with friends. Locations not bad as well.
We were in between the Union and the Franklin so rather than turning left we turned right and gave the Franklin a go (despite being a long time Union fan). Love the decor. Rather than the front bar or the beer garden we opted for the dining room. The group that I was with were not into sharing so the menu offered limited main courses. The schnitzel, steak and fish and chips were the go and there were no complaints. For the price the schnitzel was a good size and quality and tasty. The cup of chips on the side was cute. The steaks came as ordered with wedges and no complaints there. The fish and chips was the pick though. Three good size pieces of garfish with a nice salad and chips. After watching the smaller plates come out I will return to try those.
