To be honest it's not my favourite venue but I do regularly find myself there as they do host a lot of shows. The main problems is the heat when the place is packed and the sound can be pretty muddy too, best bet is to stand near the sound desk. When it's moderately full it can be enjoyable but sold out is definitely not what you want (although I'm sure promoters are happy with this). Plenty of choice at the bar although you'll be waiting for a while if it's full...
I've been to some great gigs at The Gaelic but it's just not a good venue... I'm sure I would have enjoyed the same gigs more at a better venue. The lay out is all wrong, it gets unbearably hot when the show is sold out & almost impossible to get to the toilets. The sound is also never top quality but, as I said before, there have been some great bands/artists on there.
