The Golden Ox

I've never had a disappointing experience here whether ordering from the regular dinner menu, early bird or a delectable seafood platter! The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are polite and helpful and the food is just outstanding.

My wife and i went to the the golden ox a couple of weeks ago on a much needed date night, we had heard it was a great place to go so decided to give it a go... we went on a friday night, had a reservation for 7.30pm.. we were a tad late and arrived at 7.45 which didnt seem to be a problem as they werent busy, we ordered straight away. In the meantime waiting for food we were asked 3-4 times wether we would like more drinks, bread rolls and desert even though we hadnt finished our first drinks or even had our main!!! the piano player was so loud my wife and i couldnt hear each other speak. we finally got our food over an hour later, by that time my wife was angry, hungry and over it. I was introduced to The Golden Ox experience three years ago when I first visited Redcliffe. I've been back a few times now and nothing has changed since that first visit. The food is sensational, the service Nick, Virginia and their attentive staff offer is fantastic and the overall atmosphere is intimate and friendly. Just a great combination for a memorable night out!

I have been coming to The Golden Ox for over seven years and I honestly have never had a bad experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is excellent and consistent. Last time I had the chicken Mediterranean, absolutely fantastic. Being someone who has helped run restaurants for a long time this place is has some of the best management in the industry. Everything is reasonably priced, and doesnt take forever to come out. The interior has not aged a bit, and still feels comfortable and relaxing. Ill definitely be bringing my mum here for mothers day!

My wife and I visited the restaurant during a Wednesday night in Redcliffe. We had the seafood degustation and the food quality was faultless. We could not complain about the service because even though it was busy we got our food very quickly, and the waitperson showed class that only quality training can bring. Every course was spot on and the wine perfectly matched. We walked out happy and suggest others to try it too.
