The Grampians Retreat

Absolutely horrifying. The older couple running this business, were unfortunately the worst hosts for such a beautiful area to stay. The man spoke to young students in a demanding, outrageous manner and made innapropriate comments about their different cultures and the way they look. I feel saddned that I have to write this review, but would never recommend taking young people here. We all tried to move forward by politely addressing the issue and were instantly shut down and were yelled at, with a door slammed by him in front of the students.

The grounds and accomodation are nice. The meals were quite decent -- hence the 2 star rating.

However the management took every opportunity, every night and day, to let us know clearly that they've had enough of working there and dislike customers. I guess this is why the place is up for sale.

We were there for a weekend with children - not military bootcamp. They are total control freaks who feel the need to intrude on your privacy and tell you off for stacking the bowls and plates incorrectly or picking pebbles up off the ground.


We'll be reminiscing and having a bitter laugh about this trip for years to come.

Absolutely shocking experience
The management staff is more worried about kids using their $2 table tennis bats than letting kids & adults play on the grounds. The constant berating of kids for anything more than trying to have some fun is almost childlike in itself.
The management staff has some serious issues with kids - I've never seen a bigger control freak !
