Walking into this place today, it was packed to the rafters! A hot day seems to have brought out everyone and their dog. It was a veritable pet shop outside. I got to pet all the pooches.

The new Israeli Street Food concept menu takes the nostalgic elements of the old Grumpy Baker we knew and love when we were first introduced to it 14 years ago. The Vaucluse outlet tells a unique food story that is typically pulled apart across Mediterranean speacialty venues in the Sydney dining landscape. Baking, pickling, slow cooking meats and vegetables over a charcoal woodfire oven, the Vaucluse store differentiates itself from its sister outletd by focusing on an untapped cuisine not fully utilised by restauranteurs of our city.The picks for me were the Eye Fillet filled pita with Chimchurri, beautiful cooked meet absorbing the smokiness of the grand oven that features in the centre of the space. For dessert I had the watermelon feta which is a wonderful contrast of saltiness and sweet - the ideal 'go to' this summer which is refreshing and light.
