The Hotel Albion
Avoid the fine dining experience that restaurants offer and head to Albion Hotel for a more relaxed environment. This pub and restaurant serves traditional pub fare, with a Modern Australian influence. Relax in the bar area afterwards or play a game of pool.
I don’t necessarily want to say that this is a bad place because, well, it isn’t. Rather it is one of those pubs (and they served me a beer without demanding, or even asking, if I wanted something to eat as well so it must be a pub) that didn’t really stick in my mind all that long. However, it is still a rather nice place to have a drink, even though it does feel that it is probably more of a restaurant than a pub. I did find the staff to be rather pleasant so I’ll give it that as well.
I was just here for lunch on Sunday with the family. What a great little pub in a quiet street of Port Melbourne. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The place had an open fire at the back, which made it warm and cozy. We had a table at the back, near a number of the large TV’s. A number of dishes were ordered from the mix grill plate, porterhouse, seafood marinara and pork belly. One general rule of thumb is never to order pasta at pubs, but this was defiantly an exception. The seafood looked great, they didn’t appear to be from a frozen bag, the pasta and sauce was well cooked. Overall each dish was nicely presented and well cooked, although the porterhouse was a little on the well done side although I did ask for medium. Would highly recommend and return again!
