Well, since the pub is located next to a racecourse you can basically expect that it is going to a pub that has that theme. I have to say that I wasn't really all that impressed, but then my taste in pubs has changed quite a lot over the years. This is basically your standard suburban pub, and since it is a short distance from Glenelg then there are much better offerings down there. The pub is quite large, and has a couple of function rooms, along with a restaurant, sports bar, and gaming lounge (and not surprisingly the sports bar is quite large). Now that I've been here (though I have probably stopped by here once before) I can say that I have had a beer here and not bother about coming back again.
Had a 60th birthday in stables room for a small group of family. Absolutely the best function I have been to in Adelaide!!! The food was outstanding!! Two entrees - pork belly or salt and pepper squid- were magnificent and the mains - chicken or beef - were very tasty and huge meals. Panacotta for desert was light and creamy. We supplied our own wine for guests at a very cheap price for corkage. The Stables room was fantastic with plenty of seating space on 1 long and wide table and some lounge chairs. The service and attention to guests over the course of the night was sensational!! This has to be one of the hidden gems of Adelaide dining. I would highly recommend this to anyone as a function venue!! Well done to all the team at the Morphettville Junction.
The bistro here is definitely worth a visit. The menu choices are varied and the prices reasonable - including a few choices for kids. Had the steak, the seafood platter, the kids' calamari and one of the pizzas here and really enjoyed them all. The pizza was big enough to take some home and they were happy to box it up for us. Loved the salad bar too - it's generously sized and there's half a dozen choices along with crunchy bread and butter. Drinks were well priced too. There's a decent kids area with some games (plus they give colouring in papers with the kids meal). All up I was very happy and think you will be too. I suspect it could be pretty busy here on a raceday (it's right in the racecourse carpark) but wasn't too bad when we went there on an 'average' Sat night.
