The Leveson
The Leveson is a stylish pub in the back streets of North Melbourne. It is home to four contemporary bar areas, outdoor seating and a bistro which serves modern Australian cuisine and pub fare. Look out for special steak or parma nights.
Been here for after work drinks and dinner on a number of occasions. Meals are mostly in the traditional pub style and served in the mid and back sections of the venue. Drinks are served in the front where there's numerous TVs with sports on on a Friday evening. Pretty relaxed mood inside and a good inner suburban pub to go to with friends.
This is certainly not a bad pub, and at least they have a non-smoking outdoor area (which is under cover as well which means that all of the smokers are pushed into the open, so during periods of inclement weather theay have the option of either not smoking, or simply getting wet). At first I thought this was mainly a restaurant, however upon returning here I noticed there was a really nice front bar that even has a table tennis table. However the restaurant seems to be one of the gastro type restaurants which generally doesn't thrill me all that much, however despite that it is still a nice place for a drink, and it doesn't get all that crowded either, though it still seems reasonably popular. Mind you, they also have seats out the front, which tend to get taken quite quickly, however since Levenson Road isn't a major road, you don't have a worry about traffic regularly passing. There even seems to be ample car parking space out the front.
On a cold winter's day in Melbourne, places like the Leveson make it tolerable. Tucked away in a North Melbourne side street, this is a busy and happening place! The food is delicious and servings are a reasonable size. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is cosy. This seems to be a local hangout for a lot of people in the area. Staff seemed to know the names of many patrons. All up, an enjoyable evening with friends.
