The Match Bar & Bakehouse

Very disappointing. The meals on the specials board were not available on a Saturday night. The substitute meals were very ordinary. And the fly in the wine was the proverbial icing on the cake.

I love grabbing a pizza on Friday nights and so my hubby and I decided to try this establishment while visiting Bendigo. The pizzas were excellent and the topping were generous. The service was fast and attentive. The decor is not to my taste and I think they should have gone for a cosier feel to their restaurant but when the pizzas are this good I can overlook these minor things!

The Match have great friendly staff and it's a really comfortable cafe to dine in with a nice bright modern decor and on cold days an open fire. I don't think the food is consitently good though, some days I've walked out really disappointed, others I have walked away thinking it was fabulous. Same goes with the coffee which has at times been a bit cool and I really like to go to a place where I know for sure that the food and coffee will definately be great. However the cakes and hot chocolate are always fabulous and they are great with kids if you go in at a time that's not too busy.
