A Melbourne landmark for over 150 years, the Metropolitan Hotel in the CBD illustrates the contemporary changes throughout the city. The interior decor creates a warm and welcoming ambiance, accompanied by the cafe which the food is more synonymous with a New York cafe rather than a pub. The extensive wine lists enable the patron to enjoy every drop, as well as the option for functions available in the restaurant and the bar.

I really don't come down to this side of the city all that often, which is a shame because there are quite a few places that I wouldn't mind checking out. Anyway, I have been to this pub a while ago, but it tends to stay off my radar, namely because I don't venture down here much. The last time I came here it was simply to grab a drink after work before catching the bus to the airport (which meant I was lugging by bag with me). It is a pretty classy establishment, though not one that has a strict dress code. I don't mind it, though it isn't one of my favourites. The prices of the meals are average, but the atmosphere is quite nice, that is if you like the classy style of pub. I probably should pop in a little more than I do, though it is a little bit of a hike from where I catch the train.
