The Newport

I wasn’t really a big fan of this place, but maybe that had something to do with it feeling more like a resort, or at least a bar in a resort, than your typical pub. Okay, I’m probably being a little too harsh on the place, and while being very difficult to get to is not so much its fault, I can’t say that I was really all that impressed. The service was sub-standard, though they weren’t necessarily rude, and while there were some nice beers available, the atmosphere really wasn’t all that great.

Lovely bar for an afternoon beer. Lovely water views and also delicious food to match. Every time we've come here it's been really nice, especially when there's live music. The decor is very light and modern. The place is also kid friendly.

We ended up here on a rainy night and were hence limited with choice on what to eat as most of the eateries were closed. We opted for pizza and were stoked we did as it was DIVINE!!! The bread base is supremely delicious. Just their salads are a complete rip off!!!!

This place is pretty special, it can get crazy busy on a sunny weekend but if you go mid-week it's such a good place to go eat some good food and chill out. The range of options for eating is huge and on the whole the food is 5 star which I now expect from Merivale venues. The view out across Newport is absolutely fantastic too. Definitely worth a visit and excellent for families too.

The newport has a gorgeous and casual atmosphere, that is always buzzing. The food is delicious, but has a slight fast food ambience e.g. cardbord boxes. The none alcoholic drinks are surprisingly very affordable, however I cannot say the same for the alcoholic cocktails. That being said, they have some delectable drinks like frose and mango dacquiri. You'll honestly not be able to stop yourself. My only regret for the night is not taking any instagram worthy pictures of the drinks.
