I never knew about this pub until one night when a friend of mine rang me up out of the blue and invited me out for a night on the town. So, after spending half an hour looking for it, I wandered inside and I must say I was really impressed. As was typical of us at the time, I found my friends out in the beer garden (and little has changed since then, except that you can't smoke in pubs anymore). In fact, I believe at the time it was one of the very few pubs with a beer garden. So has the pub. It is one of those places that seem to regularly close down, and then reopen with some slight changes. The night-club has long gone, but the beer garden remains, and yes, they also have craft beer on tap as well.
very negative experience. contacted the hotel in December 2013 to enquire about 21st birthday party February 22 2014.contacted the hotel again confirming the date, and a few other details and paying a deposit in December 2013. 4 calls in all. at no stage was there mention of Fringe events or awaiting confirmation from the Fringe . son visited the hotel 17/2 to be told the room we booked was no longer available as the Fringe had confirmed their booking that week which had not been pencilled in......the Fringe performances are booked in every year but the management forgot to tell us this when booking our party. so 4 days before the party we were emailed by the hotel to apologise.they had arranged another hotel for us, so party went ahead, management promised to visit us on the night of the party and promised a gift. no gift and refund was hastily handed to management at the new venue and they disappeared out the kitchen door. badly handled. and ...read more
Had been here a few times before for birthday outings and i quite liked it. Its different, they have a few rooms to go around too, and also a beer garden, the music they played on teh Saturdays got you moving as well and wasnt always the commercial radio stuff which I found good.. it was good to hear some old school things from way back when again. Another good thing about the place besides its quirkiness was that it was Free Entry to get in. I havent been there for a while but I hear there are entry fees now on the Saturday nights.. which I think is a bummer if it is true... I would go back again, but probably not if I had to pay for it unless it was for a birthday or something..
Quirky little venue with REAL GRASS growing around the bar! Antique chairs and grungy surroundings make it very visually appealing and the beer graden is gorgeous - lots of fairy lights really made it look spectacular at night! Unfortunately the bar staff that we were "lucky" enough to deal with were unfriendly and pretentious - sometimes even rude. Got simple drink orders wrong and when we ordered Tequila Slammers (which were advertised all around the hotel as $6 including a slice of lemon and salt) - they had NO SALT! And then proceeded to charge us $8 instead! Great venue for functions - if they had some decent staff!
Great venue just to hang out or have birthdays. They have nice antique looking lounges around and it comes equip with a fireplace and pool table. The producers bar is a great place to come see bands and djs that come down to Adelaide. With great staff makes the experience even better.
