I was in Melbourne for the weekend just recently for a friends engagement party so decided what the hey - splurge a little and stay at a nice hotel for the 2 nights I was only there for. My hotel of choice - The Olsen. Amazing boutique hotel located in South Yarra. Great location being right on Chapel Street, beautiful decorates and equipped room, nice dining downstairs. Staff were so lovely and friendly and the pricing overall split between my friends were pretty good. I definitely would recommend The Olsen and would consider staying here again... especially because they are located right next to one of my favorite dessert joints! ;)
This is one of my favourite hotels. The art everywhere is just stunning and the flavoured water in the lobby is a nice touch. We used the art series smart cars which were a nippy way to get to some of the further parts of the city. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It's in a great location with chapel street shops and eateries on your doorstep. The breakfast cafe attached to the hotel does a really good breakfast too. The only negative was that we had a room that overlooked a huge construction site and it got really loud during their working hours.
We were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to a Suite and experience this amazing Art Series hotel as a highroller. Extremely convenient from Chapel Street, the only downside was our balcony faced an abandoned building with a hole in the ground which was a little creepy.
From the moment we stepped into the hotel lobby we were warmly greeted by staff and we were impressed by the clean modern decor. The Art Series hotel rings true to its name, inspired by the works of John Olsen, whose artwork adorns the walls of the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable, it was immaculately presented and made us imagine a life in a trendy studio... YEP! We could live here!
The mini bar reflects the characters of the hotel with freckled cookies, a mini canvas art set (in case you felt the need to paint) and complimentary T2 tea (my fav!).
The location of the hotel is perfect, situated in the heart of Chapel Street and a 800m walk to Richmond (full of shopping outlets!).
Would highly recommend a stay here!
