Have heard about this place a while ago now but only had the chance to come here a couple of weeks ago whilst I was in the area. My friend and I decided to pop in for brunch on a public holiday and suprizingly enough it was not as busy as we thought it might’ve been which was good in a way as we then thought the service would be quick as we were starving! Unfortunately, it was the opposite to that. I went up to the counter to order our coffee’s and breakfast dishes but it took quite a long time for the coffee’s to come out that I ended up having to go up and see what the holdup was at least just for the coffees. Our dishes took near to 50 minutes to come out for bacon, eggs and chorizo and eggs benedict and really it was not overly packed. If the coffees came out without waiting for too long for them we probably wouldn’t have noticed as much but as it was taking a while on both it did make us question the wait. Despite that though, the food was tasty and we did enjoy it. ...read more
It was amazing!! I went there with the family for dessert one day, after craving to go there for ages. We were not dissapointed with the taste and the sizes were big. We left with a smile on our face. The decor was really pretty, it had a theme of wood which looked amazing. I definitely recommend going there if you have some extra money and want a nice meal.
There's a lot to like about the Pickled Duck. Perhaps the first is that they don't just sell pickled duck (infact I don't think it was even on the menu...). Their range is quite simply incredible, from snappy entrees or tasting platters to flashy mains to luscious desserts - and a super wine and other beverage list to accompany them all (even a cellar that's a 'real' cellar open for tours). Whatsmore, the price is surprisingly affordable especially given the quality. Location is lovely too, right on Civic Park where you can relax watching the grass grow and be eaten by the ducks that aren't being pickled. Lots of choices for seating too, from an outside sports bar area to an inside bar or wood-pine themed area.
My tip? Get the chocolate tasting dessert. I looked up all these words in a thesaurus for it and they're all perfect descriptions: Luscious, appetising, delectable, divine, heavenly, tantalizing and downright scrumptious.
