Worst bar, accused of urinating on a phone box that is not even part of the establishment that i was no where near and was banned and had police called on me for, all i was doing was having a cigarette in plain view of every other person in the venue outside in the designated smokers area. After spending an easy $60 on food and drinks that i was unable to enjoy in front of my favourite home team the all blacks i would definitely walk the extra couple hundred metres to bridge road to a proper pub/bar with a more enjoyable atmosphere and more reasonably priced drinks. highly recommend the walk to bridge road to avoid such a disrespectable and disgusting bar.
My better half an I just spent a week tandem riding on the Clare Valley Riesling Trail. We based ourselves at the Rising Sun Hotel at Auburn. Lovely old historic hotel, clean and comfortable. Run by a wonderful family and staff providing excellent company, food and wine. We will be back.
Very disappointing meal. We ordered salt and pepper squid which was nearly inedible due to the amount of pepper - overpowering. For dessert my partner had a creme brulee which was runny and not set proprerly. Would have to be the worst meal I have eaten in a long time. The only positive was the beautiful friendly service and the gorgeous old pub itself - .
Saturday 11 July 2009, Dinner.
We didn't order anything complicated luckily. The Lamb, a t-bone steak and the fillet steak. All well below average. Now, If you can't get those traditional typical hotel meals right, say no more.
Service was also disappointing. Grumpy, unfriendly staff and comments from other people we met later that week also were of the same opinion.
On New Year's Eve 2009 my family and I dined at the Rising Sun Hotel Auburn. I have dined there several times in the past with the previous owners and it was good then. However, under the present owners the whole experience was excellent. The table service we received and the food were both first class in every way. Our 2 children and their partners who came from Sydney and Adelaide were blown away and they are well experienced diners! We cannot wait to repeat the experience. Well done and congratulations to a professional and friendly establishment. Many thanks.
