The Rose Hotel

This is the second time I've visited this pub, and in a way I'm glad that I made the effort because it was much better than I initially expected. Well, I wouldn't go as far as calling it a craft beer bar, namely because it only has a set selection. Still, the selection that they have is pretty good, and if there is one that you aren't sure about then they are even happy to give you a taste just to see if you like it before going and committing yourself. Oh, and it also has quite a charming interior as well.

Great local pub. Not fancy but friendly and comfortable. Staff are lovely. Counter meals are well priced - about $17 for a scotch fillet steak, salad and chips. Can be pretty crowded and noisy when they have AFL games on the telly so if you don't like your footy then best to stay away. What I like is that it is not a trendy pub just for young people. There's all ages groups! Would recommend for a laid back counter meal. Upstairs is a really classy restaurant called the Rose Upstairs which has a more expensive menu. We sometimes have a counter meal and then go upstairs for dessert and coffee - they have a great orange crme brulee. I would recommend this pub.

Swordfish and potato salad?! Are you for real? There's only one staff in The kitchen!

Reliable, cheap, friendly.....great steaks for a great price. Love the french bread side and radishes in the salad too.

A Country style pub with traditional pub food at great pub prices. How about $11 for a steak? There is a daily roast plus a selection of specials incase you have tried everything on the menu. During the footy season, every game that is being telecast is on one of the many screens. Cricket ofcourse is on during summer. It is located in a quiet part of Napier street and ideal for a family to meet and have a meal. Yes, it is kid friendly, but don't tell too many people about this little gem. A 2nd lounge room for the locals (myself included).
