The Royal Hotel

This was certainly a rather nice pub. I guess being hidden away in the centre of Paddington, away from all the main roads, sort of does that to a place. Actually, One of the best things about this pub is the views from the top deck – they are absolutely amazing. I found the staff to be rather friendly as well, and they also had some nice beers on tap, but I guess it was the views that really made this place stand out.

A group of girlfriends and I had a bottomless champagne brunch here and it was quite disappointing. It was a set menu (4 course) with a bottomless Bellini (which in my opinion wasn't the best), and had 2 hours. The food was average, and they did not really cater for people who were gluten free or vegetarian. The place got really packed and the ratio of staff to customers were waaay off so we had to wait forever to get a refill of Bellinis. And they told us we cannot get a refill until everyone on the table had finish their drinks, which was ridiculous as not everyone wanted to drink more than few glasses.

Overall, poor service, overpriced, average food/not catered to all, gets very packed and extremely noisey...I don't think I will be back anytime soon.

The Royal in Paddington is such a breath of fresh air. I really like the space because every area has a different decor and feel. The interior design is modern but inspired by Art Deco. You can sit in the restaurant area which is very open and bright. I had a salmon salad there and it was amazing paired with a glass of white.

Friendly staff, cider on tap, a restaurant area and a gorgeous little rooftop terrace with a view of the city. A really cool pub!
