Dined in at The Saffron tonight and had a very poor experience when it came time to pay:
"Papadums" offered as entree, turned out to be a "Side Dish Platter" and was very over priced. Itemised as two separate items on receipt totalling $10.90 for the plate and $3.50 for the papadums. Quite a surprise for 5 papadums and some sauce. Looked at other reviews afterwards which showed other people being deceived the same way.

I was looking forward to some different Indian food but this was fairly ordinary, standard stuff. Portions were a bit small but the Methi Chicken was outstanding and is probably worth the 3.5 stars I'm rating the restaurant. The ambience was not exciting - not much atmosphere, but very clean and warm. Service was excellent - even a little pushy. So while our meal was enjoyable it was 'take-out style' fare. I cook a lot of Indian food so hoped for some authenticity but didn't find it. Where oh where are the real ethnic cooks!
