still top notch eatery in Melbourne, one of the best! had the "Lamb Piadina" again - plenty of slow cooked (stringy, moist) lamb, spinach, labna, chewy dates, roasted pumpkin folded over in a pide bread $14 - sizeable, reasonably priced and delicious. also had the special of the day bruschetta $14- smoked salmon, tomato, capers and roasted almonds - healthy, sizeable, reasonably priced and yum! the organic vegie wrap with hummus and salad $9.50 was tasty enough too. all food presented really nicely and ingredients combination is inventive and staff are attentative and pleasant. mango smoothies $6 are delicous and enough for 3 kids to share. iced coffees a little weak, lattes have extra shot of coffee so plenty strong enough. heaps to choose from on menu from hot breakfast, light meals, etc and plenty of drink choices such as hot chocolate speciality drink. if we lived closer would frequent regularly. 5 separate eating areas - outside on street front, lovely ...read more
returned to this lunch venue after sometime from our last visit. they now have high tea upstairs (bookings required). coffees were quite good, although don't use bonsoy soy. nice soft comfy chairs at tables. still have the best smoothies around $6! very reasonable prices. various toasted wraps/pides/piadinas on offer as well as some salads and. we tried a "lamb piadina" $14 - warm lamb, roast pumpkin, baby spinach, goats cheese, dates and red onion wrapped in a flat bread which was delicious - the lamb slow cooked and the "corn and coriander fritters" with smoked salmon, avocado and Persian salsa $18 which was nice. affogatos $4. also on menu that sounded inviting was- avocado and fetta on rye $15 and wrap with roast pumpkin, goats cheese, red onion, dates and rocket $9.50. lots of seating in front area, back room and outside back courtyard. drawing materials available for kids. easy to park nearby.
the spot cafeteria is no longer opening for dinner (winter 2010) due to lack of customers which is such a shame (easy to get table at last minute and great food and open sundays nights). have been here a few more times for lunch since last review - the food is still great (unique and interesting ingredients and combinations). serving sizes seem to have got a bit smaller though for prices? still easy to get a table staff still very friendly including to kids. coffees great, easy to park nearby, selection of yummy, hearty winter soups on offer on specials board, filtered water tap available, still good place for great food.
food is delicous, prices very reasonable, ingredients, combination of ingredients and menu items are original, exciting and inventive (eg - bistro trio of 3 salads meal is a great idea), best mango smoothies ever tasted, soups delicous, have come back many times and will return, nice pizzas , lovely setting and staff extremely friendly
