The state theatre is always a pleasure to go visit.
The venue is always good fun, it's roomy yet cozy. The seating is comfy although I don't know how much the drinks and other items are as I didn't buy anything to eat or drink.
But it put on a good show and I totally enjoyed the experience.
Came here during the Sydney Film Festival, and what a glorious venue to watch a film in! It's hilariously gaudy but still in a kind of beautiful way. And those seats are so much more comfortable than a cinema ;) Be sure to visit the upstairs bathroom to go via some more inventive interior decorating.
I love to go here during the Sydney film festival. There's something exciting about viewing a new movie on a big screen in a beautifully and intricately decorated theatre. It is a gorgeous building, very chic. All the best movies are shown at the State Theatre during the film festival.
I'd only been here previously for comedy acts and popped in here for a live music gig and was blown away by the acoustics. The sound is unreal and the venue is beautiful. I loved that the attendants walked us down to our seats and shone their little torches on our row! Otherwise, you would've had a heavily pregnant woman groping around in the dark! My only complaint would be that the seats are almost directly behind each other, meaning that if someone short sitting behind a taller patron has a really limited view. Otherwise, somewhere I really enjoy seeing quality entertainers.
