The Store
It's a cafe plus restaurant plus providore plus mini supermarket, packaged neatly into a funky, country-style corner shop split in halves. The eat-in section is timber tables and floors, with scant attention to design make-overs and architectural modernity. But this is what gives The Store its unique character. At first glance it's simply a busy, inner-suburban cafe but there's more to the food and wine service than expected. The Store's friendly waiters are a treat - thinking on their feet when the tiny dining room is full and willing to ask questions of the kitchen.

As it turned out this was the only cafe/coffee shop open on Melbourne Street on Christmas Eve, which surprised me somewhat because I expected that Melbourne street would be buzzing a lot more than I actually expected. Mind you, since I never spent huge amounts of time up this part of Adelaide I really cannot comment. Anyway, being the only place open it was pretty crowded, but we didn't have to wait too long to get a seat, or too long to get our meal. As for the meal that had a Christmas special, namely a Turkey Benedict. Mind you, it has become one of my preferred breakfasts these days, and using turkey instead of bacon certainly gave me a bit of a change. As for a cafe, or restaurant, or what you will, it isn't all that bad.
The Store is a nice place to sit down and enjoy some well made high quality food. The location itself is great and with parking just down the street, it is a convenient place to catch up with friends, enjoy a fantastic coffee or sit in one of their booths to do some work outside of the office. The best part about the Store is their all day Lunch!
