The Swanston Hotel Melbourne, Grand Mercure

Friendly staff on check in and check out, but a fairly average stay.
The hotel is in the heart of the CBD and walking distance to everywhere you need, but fairly average rooms.
It's an older hotel and in parts, quite shabby, especially walls and carpets.
For those who like the pokies, there's gaming, plus the Cocoon bar on level 1.
Soul Cafe downstairs is easy to access for a cuppa.
My room was right above the tram stop so can get a little noisy if you're not used to the constant noises.

For a 4 1/2 star hotel, great price/rooms, The Swanston Hotel Melbourne, Grand Mercure is definitly the place to stay, in between central station & flinders st station as well as being close to crown casino along with their own pokies centre... right in the heart of the city if you want quality for money then The Swanston Hotel Melbourne, Grand Mercure is definitly the place to stay and for the budget tight traveller their 3 1/2 star hotel is right accross from them in the same building not as nice but price wise is still real good considering the location and that you probably would be out sightseeing or shopping most of the time anyways....

Situated right across from the park, near trams, and with a very nice restaurant, this is a nice place to stay. The rooms are quite basic (I have stayed in cheaper hotels in Melbourne with nicer rooms) but adequate.

a good chain of apartments that have a great reputation that isnt let down by this hotel

again a great location right in the heart of melbourne city - you have terrific access to transport and all the shops and food you will need

small hotel rooms but you wont be spending a lot of time there but to sleep
