The University Hotel
The University Hotel is located in Lygon Street Carlton. Established in 1873, it has long been catering to the varying needs of the local university students and visitors. An impressive cocktail list is offered alongside wine and beer, with hearty meals available such as chicken parmagiana, chicken pie and steak sandwiches.

I'm going to have to say that I've never been all that overtly enthusiastic about this place. In fact it is more like a bar than a pub, though even then it isn't a bar that I find to be all that wonderful. It's not a huge place, and like a lot of the places on Lygon Street, they have an outdoor area next to the road, which I've never been overtly keen about. In fact it seems to be just another Lygon Street restaurant masquarading as a pub, and doing a fairly poor job at that. I have been here a couple of times for a drink, and none of those times have I really liked the place. I guess I prefer the traditional pub, or a hip and trendy bar, of which this is neither.
