The Vascular Lab: Noosa

The Vascular Lab is a specialist vascular imaging service that is run by Dr Toby Cohen.

Over the last ten years vascular surgery has changed significantly with the vast majority of procedures performed through small incisions and involving stenting to the occluded vessels. With the change in vascular surgery has meant that vascular imaging now requires sonographers with a special interest or qualification in that area to get the best results. The combination of Dr Cohen working closely with the vascular sonographers ensures that the imaging is correct and clinically relevant.

To ensure that the standards are met, Dr Cohen holds regular teaching sessions on the latest innovations in vascular surgery and what it means for the sonographers. He also correlates the ultrasound findings with the results of other imaging either CT scans or angiogram and in some cases will photograph the pathology to ensure that the standards are met.
