The Village Larder
81 High St
Woodend, VIC, 3442
What a fantastic cafe in Woodend! We dropped in for afternoon tea. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I ordered a chai latte, which came beautifully presented (see photo). It was presumably made with syrup and tasted sweet with a hint of honey. Boyfriend (a coffee snob) was happy with his flat white. We also shared a slice of cake, which satisfied our sweet cravings.
I'm a Woodend local and I am just SO glad The Larder has appeared - it has fabulous food with great flavour and generous portions; great coffee; friendly staff and a lovely space. The new benches (all made from reclaimed wood) look great and they've opened up for dinners too!! (yay!)
Everything you could want in a country cafe: food inspired by classic dishes and utilising local, seasonal ingredients, cakes and pastries all baked on site, great coffee, quirky decor and friendly service. Almost always busy with a dedicated local following and foodies who've heard of The Village Larder's growing reputation.
Had to wait 10 or more minutes before having to go ask for some service after asking for service the staff then were rude towards my friends and myself we then wait another 20 minutest for a coffee that was burnt and horrible, then looking at the menu there wasn't one thing that was appealing to us and quiet frankly the menu was hard to even read. then after seeing someone drop food in the open sugar bowls and scooping it out with there fork turned us completely off the whole evening and atmosphere was terrible we then left after being glared at by the staff.
My friends and myself then went over the road to Bites Deli and it was one of the best breakfast and coffee's we had had for ages highly recommend Bites.
