This was one of my favourite pubs in Adelaide, namely because it was quite close to my work so we would regularly come here for lunches and after work drinks. There was even a time when one of my favourite football players was serving beer here, so of course I ended up coming that night. Okay, it probably isn't the greatest pub in Adelaide, and it does get pretty crowded on a Friday night, but their meals are quite inexpensive, and they do make a really good schnitzel. These days he have even added some craft beers on tap, which has raised the standard of the place. They also have a decent beer garden out the back. While it may not be a great pub for a Friday night out, it is a decent place to go to for after work drinks. As for me, this place will always hold some really fond memories.
I attended a large function at The Wakefield Hotel & found the service to be great. We had dinner there before the function & found there was a good selection of food on the menu & the staff were attentive & friendly. It has been recently renovated since I had last been there & it looks modern & has a warm atmosphere. Everyone at work commented on the lovely evening. Will definitely recommend it to my friend's to dine there or hold a function.
Was excited to go to the Wakefield for a Xms function but was very disappointed. A private room was booked but on arrival we were told that we would have to sit in the main pub area. Not only did the main pub area have no atmosphere, it made hearing work speaches impossible. The service was also poor. Our orders were taken and it was 2 hours before we received our entrees. The waitresses were yelling asking people what they had ordered which made them look very unprofessional. I had steak for main course which was so tough I couldnt cut it and instead resorted to eating salad for main course. All in all I strongly recommend people do not go to the Wakefield - especially for a xmas function. The majority of work staff who attended the xmas function were disappointed by the whole experience.
