I guess it was the green walls and the pink elephants on the roof that first caught my eye. Okay, being out on the side streets of Windsor meant that it is one of the pubs that you have to know about, as opposed to simply stumbling on it, but that is what makes a great pub. It means that only people in the know will be found here, as opposed to those simply wondering up and down one of the main strips simply looking for a place to drink. Okay, the bouncers were a little intimidating, but I guess that is their job, so I really can't criticise them about that. There is also the awesome beer garden out the back (I simply love beer gardens) with the outdoor bar tucked away under a grass roof. Oh, and I cannot forget the piano bar, though there is no piano there, which was a little disappointing. I also really liked the antlers hanging on the wall of the main bar. It is definitely one that I will be visiting again.
Summer. You have got to be in the beer garden here in summer. Winter, it just doesn't carry the atmosphere of the outdoors, indoors. It pacs a crowd, a mostly local one at that. And drinks are always a fair price. Bring friends or make new ones, it's an old Melb secret venue, since ever. I hope it stays that way.
