Ten years ago we moved from Olinda to the Morning ton Peninsula,we really missed Thrifty Vet and never really managed to find a vet that we were happy with both in cost and the type of treatment given.18 months ago we moved back,we thought Dr Harry had retired and used another local vet, very expensive and we suspected that the two day stay on a drip etc for Gastro was a bit excessive, however the dog is one of the family so we took their advice, a couple of weeks later the Gastro had not totally cleared up,a neighbour mentioned Thrifty Vet and gave us their new location. We were amazed the Receptionist still remembered us as did Dr Harry, they really are a very caring vet and will never try to take advantage of you financially, we are pleased to say that the medication prescribed seems to be doing the trick.
Well, what can I say........this is the best value, down-to-earth, ethical vet I've ever come across. I am still in shock. I now realise how much I've been ripped off over the years by the original (local) vet I've been taking my animals to. My cat is 13, and on last consultation at my original vet I was told that her teeth were really bad and they needed urgent cleaning, and possibly some extractions - quoted cost for cleaning alone: $750; extractions: around $50 per tooth!! Not only that, I was told my cat has arthritis and I should start her on a course of injections...I've not see any evidence of arthritis in my cat. So I decided to get a second opinion and a second quote, and booked my cat in for a consultation with Thriftyvet. Total cost at Thriftyvet after all tooth cleaning was done on-the-spot during the consultation: $45! And I was told she is an extremely healthy cat, with very good teeth for her age. Just bring her back for a teeth checkup in 6 months.........I rest my case. Thank you ...read more
