Tonic Restaurant offers fine dining in the beautiful little town of Milthorpe. The restaurant is classy and sophisticated. Service was genuine and knowledgeable, without any attitude.
We decided on a 2-course meal, as the waitstaff indicated the meals were quite 'rich'. Complimentary bread was served, but disappointingly without accompanying butter. I ordered the Mandagery Creek venison, which was accompanied by spiced lentil puree, rhubarb and cauliflower gratin. The main course was indeed quite rich and filling. I enjoyed the flavor combination, especially the sweetness of the rhubarb. For dessert, I tried the chocolate marquise. The marquise itself was delicious. But there was a dollop of sesame sauce (I think) on the platter that was a nasty shock to the tastebuds.
Tonic Restaurant is certainly worth a visit if you happen to be in the region.
