Tortilla's Cocina Mexicana

Great little Mexican for a cheap dinner and very good food. Mexican Meatballs were the winner. Would definitely go back.

Prices here are ridiculous. Don't go here unless you have too much money and enjoy awful customer service and a rude management. The place is rarely open though, and I'm not surprised.

Having recently been to Mexico, Id like to think I have somewhat of a grasp on what should be considered authentic Mexican cuisine. Now Im far from an expert but Tortillas Cocina Mexicana would have to be one of the closest things Ive seen to real Mexican this side of Tijuanatoo bad its in FNQ and Im from VIC. Still, on a 4.5 day holiday to Port Douglas which abounds with quality eateries, to have everyone in my travelling party wanting to go back to the point that we followed up a dinner at Tortillas with lunch a few days later, speaks volumes. Its one of those Port Douglas restaurants where diners spill out into the street & the aroma of food entices passers by. The menu is vast, with appetisers, entrees & a long list of mains. For dinner I shared some deep fried cheese stuffed jalapenos, for mains a tortilla combo (burritos, chicken fluetas & enchiladas) & prawn fajitas with a green mole sauce yum! The Food! oh My - the Quessadillas and spicy meatballs were just YUM also the Rellenos with jalapenos Wow! hot and YUM!!! Cute waiter too! good service, and the view is great of the busy main street. Very authentic Mexican food, not a very large restaurant, but totally worth a visit if you get a seat, can get packed - the food is awesome. All the dishes we ordered were delicious on Sep 25, 2010!
