Tower Motors

After having the fuses checked and globes replaced when my rear lights were not working, I looked for an auto electician to have the fault fixed. I rang Tower Motors in Crows Nest, told them the problem and asked for an estimated cost for a probable switch replacement. They promptly told me they had no idea without physically seeing the vehicle, so I dropped it off at 7am in good faith. At 3pm I rang and they told me they were "just looking at it now". They rang me back within 40 minutes and said they had run 2 tests on it (at a cost of $310) to find out that a new switch was required(!!!!) which would cost me $450 - making it a total of $760!!! When I asked why it was so expensive for the "testing" which took less than an hour, they told me it was very expensive equipment they used! Took my Jag there for a simple rego check. Guy said there was a problem with the dash board lights, parking lights and rear number plate light. I accompanied him to the car and checked for myself, the rear number plate was working fine, he said it's not bright enough? (imagine my thoughts at this point).The dash light was also working fine but he couldn't see it as it was in bright sunlight. By the way the 1995 Jaguar XJSC doesn't have parking lights only side lights.
My conclusion is if you have a Toyota they're probably fine. I paid them the $38 and left, never to return. A total waste of my time.

I wished I had read the reviews. They are conducting a very unethical practice. They don't tell you how much they charge and if you are desperate will pull apart the car and put you in a corner to be forced to pay a very unreasonable fee...I only needed a pink slip this morning. They said to leave the car with them for inspection. They didn't tell me they would charge an hourly fee of 100 dollars. it would have cost me 400 dollars for changing a plate light and a wiper blade and pink-slip
When I refused, they still charged me 150 dollars for changing a wiper blade and inspection. I'm not registered yet as in principle felt i had to take the car and give it to a decent Mechanic. Avoid going there if you can. I left in tears as i felt they took advantage of my desperate situation. Very Unhappy.

Honestly avoid, they had three parts to fit for me, they only fitted one which is a 5 min part and charged me $60 for it to be fitted. I wanted an inspection and they said that they would not pass it till I paid $145 for an oil leak to be checked out FYI I park on an epoxy floor car park I would see oil but I see nothing. Very strange,
They said they had cleaned it all underneath with decrease (essentially cheap. Brake cleaner) but can't tell me where it's coming from, I asked if they had chalked it to trace it.
Nope so paid $267 dollars for essentially 5 min work and an inspection with a clean of the under the car. Very very bad service and very very bad garage.
Do not visit this garage ( I will not be going back)

We've been taking our two cars to Tower Motors for the past 3 years. We chose Tower for no other reason than that they are the closest garage. We have had not major issues, but had pink slips and a range or minor repairs done there. Work was always done promptly and at the pre-agreed price. Service is always very friendly. No complaints at all.
