We were here on Saturday evening with a very large group upstairs for dinner around 8.30pm. Great location well placed on Lygon street alongside with many other nearby business and restaurants. My first impression was it was quite nice, decent size table in between casual dining to mid-range. This perception was all ok up until I was served by a young waitress. In having a look at their menu I was still quite indecisive about what to select so I asked what they had on the special board for tonight, her comment was its over there on the board I think I was just lost for words with her respond and level of service; the approach was more or less to get up and head over to the board to take a look myself. Disregarding her approach I ended up ordering the Linguine Pescatore which came with Mussels, prawns, fish and calamari tossed in light tomato sauce. I really like how my Classic Literature bookclub chooses a different place for brunch everytime they meet up. While the organiser does try to find a place that suits the theme of the book that we have been reading, sometimes that may not be possible (due to the lack of Russian restaurants that could hold a decent sized crew the only one I know if the Crimean, and that is pretty small).
This time it was Frankenstein, though this restaurant wasn't chosen for that, but rather because it was just around the corner from the theatre where they were all heading off to afterwards to see a filmed production of a recent play based on the book.
