Bike given back with Stages Power meter installed. Cost $800.
Went for a ride. Garmin 1030 saying average power 5 watts for 30 km medium hard ride. while riding at 30 km/hr on the flat garmin saying average power is 5 watts.
Took bike back to shop explaining power meter not communicating with garmin. Shop has bike for 2 days. No message to say bike ready so call bike shop. Bike shop says bike fixed. Arrive and then get hit with $30 bill for time spent rectifying issue.
I say to bike shop "bike shop should have ensured power meter works with recording device, eg garmin before charging $800 for power meter, Bike shop say bike shop take lot of time to fix "problem". I complain in vain. I feel bad. I pay the extra money...... Bike shop say sorry blah blah blah. I pay another $30 for what????
My opinion: To get what should have been included with the $800.
Hi Jeff, when we installed your new powermeter (crank only purchased) we tested it and confirmed it was working perfectly. You then attempted to hook up Your Own Garmin computer to it you experienced an issue. This Garmin device WAS NOT LEFT WITH US when we installed the powermeter you will recall. After retesting the Powermeter for you we discovered that it was still working fine (as when it left us).
We then tested YOUR Garmin computer and found the problem and fixed it for you.
So the issue was not with the item you purchased off us but the item you already owned.
We charged you a fairly nominal fee considering for the amount of time it took to work out the issue and fix it for you. ...read more
Your explanation about why I was charged an extra $30 for fixing my garmin does not stack up. After picking up the bike with the power meter and the garmin (820) that you said you fixed. I tested the bike with my other garmin (1030) that you hadn't ever seen and lo and behold the power meter now worked with that garmin as well. How do you explain that?
We bought a bike for our daughter back in sep 2016, and we suppose to get one time free service within year, so before drop off the bike for service This month , I did mentioned " it's more than a year, is that ok for us to drop the bike for the service" and I think the owner said its ok, if it's not all over the place" so we left the bike there for service. Today my hubby picked up the bike and said he paid $50 for service( originally 95),so apparently we got discount. I don't mind paying for the services , the point is they should have told me before I dropped off the bike or at least call me let me know.
Mark and the guys at Turramurra really know their bikes. They have a good and wide selection of bikes, though they do focus more on road there are some mountain bikes available. The guys behind the counter and in the workroom have a good depth of knowledge and always willing to help out. They specialise in high end imported bikes and getting the right fit for every rider.
